NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
Not Destructive Testing allows the control of any object without altering its material and removing samples from it.
The most used NDT methods are based on X-ray and ultrasonic applications and the results of these inspections are essential for a correct quality evaluation of a product, for the control of the structural integrity of a component and for searching the causes of an equipment bad working.
The NDT inspections are carried out on materials (metals, alloys, plastics, ceramics, etc.), on components (such as pressurized containers, turbines, heaters, valves, pumps, engines, cranes, nuclear reactors, systems used in chemical and petrochemical industry, etc.), on transport vehicles (aeroplanes, ships, trains, any kind of vehicles in general), on installations (oil platforms, gas pipelines, bridges, viaducts, dams, tunnels) and finally NDT are applied in the restoration of art masterpieces.
